Anxiety Therapy for Creatives
1:1 Online Anxiety Counseling in NY + NJ
Your brain doesn't have an "off" switch — it has a dimmer that only goes up. If you're Googling "anxiety therapy New York" at 1am between doomscrolling and reworking that email for the fifth time, you're exactly who I built this practice for.
It’s almost like you're tooooo creative
Your brain keeps thinking of all the ways you’re going to fail. Let's be honest about what brought you here. You're a young creative — designer, writer, artist, actor, whatever your particular flavor living somewhere in the five boroughs, or maybe you commute in from Jersey City and have valid feelings about NJ Transit delays. You're ambitious, self-aware, probably in therapy-adjacent group chats where everyone diagnoses each other. And underneath the productivity and the perfectly curated feed, you're exhausted.
Maybe it looks like:
Creative block that's actually anxiety in disguise — staring at a blank page/canvas/Figma file, paralyzed, because every idea feels like it has to be perfect or it's not worth starting
Imposter syndrome on a loop — convinced everyone else in your industry has it figured out and you're one bad pitch away from being "found out"
Freelance/gig-economy financial anxiety — the specific dread of unpredictable income in one of the most expensive places to live in the country
Social anxiety that masquerades as "I'm just an introvert" — dreading networking events, gallery openings, or client calls, then overanalyzing every word you said for the next 48 hours
Burnout dressed up as ambition — hustle culture convinced you rest is something you earn, not something you need
Panic attacks that show up uninvited — on the subway, before a deadline, during a perfectly nice dinner for no reason you can think of
If any of that sounds like your inner monologue, you're not broken — you're a highly sensitive, high-achieving person doing anxiety the way anxiety shows up in creative brains. And it's very workable with the right support.
As a Brooklyn-based, licensed therapist offering online anxiety therapy across New York and New Jersey, I work with people who think for a living but can't get out of their heads.
Hi, I'm Desiree — Your Brooklyn-based Anxiety Therapist in NY/NJ
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Brooklyn, offering online anxiety therapy to clients throughout New York and New Jersey. I work with a lot of creatives, and I mean a lot — writers with deadlines they've mentally turned into life-or-death events, designers convinced their entire worth is one portfolio away from crumbling, and freelancers who haven't taken a sick day since their last layoff.
I'm not here to hand you a worksheet and tell you to "just breathe." I'm here to help you actually understand why your nervous system is stuck in fifth gear, and build real tools to bring it back down — so you can create, connect, and function without your anxiety running things.
How We'll Work Together: Anxiety therapy options in NYC & online across NY/NJ
1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) For untangling the thought spirals — the "everyone secretly hates my work" and "I'm one mistake from disaster" narratives your brain loves to run on autopilot.
2. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Real, practical skills for riding out distress without spiraling, plus boundary-setting that doesn't involve ghosting your entire phonebook out of overwhelm.
3. Mindfulness Training For when anxiety lives in your body — the tight chest, the jaw clench, the feeling of being disconnected from yourself. We work with the nervous system directly, not just the thoughts.
I specialize in Generalized Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, OCD, Health Anxiety, and the specific chaos of anxiety in creative and entrepreneurial professionals across New York and New Jersey.

The duration of anxiety therapy in Brooklyn depends on multiple factors. My clients tend to make significant progress within three months of weekly therapy, often escaping survival mode and starting to take better care of themselves and set healthy boundaries. Continued work builds upon the strong foundation established, resulting in major life shifts at the six month, one year and 18 month marks. Some clients choose to remain in therapy long-term to maintain wellness and prevent a relapse in wellness. Others return to therapy when a new challenge arises that could benefit from highly attuned counseling and coaching. You are in charge of your treatment and my goal is not to keep you in therapy forever! Our work will be assessing room for growth, building self-confidence to make decisions you feel good about all on your own.
